The Siegfried Group, LLP (Siegfried) returned as a sponsor to Financial Executives International (FEI)’s Financial Leadership Summit at the Disney Contemporary Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Members of Siegfried’s National Market and Sales Team led a session titled Exponential Leadership and discussed how individuals can drive organizational excellence by focusing on their leadership.

FEI’s Financial Leadership Summit gathered industry experts and leaders to share cutting-edge financial strategies, trends, and technologies. The event featured engaging sessions, inspirational and captivating keynotes, and the chance to connect and experience the magic of Disney with finance professionals from across the nation.

Leaning into intangibles for better leadership

At Siegfried, leadership starts with the individual and it has the power to exponentially improve your life and the lives of those around you. Siegfried’s Leah Mazar, Managing Director, and Kayla Clogston, Associate Director, shared what it takes to improve as a leader, both for yourself and your colleagues, friends, and family: leaning into unique intangibles.

“When we talk to the leaders we work with about their favorite employees, they never say the 606 expert or the ERP implementation wizard,” explained Leah. “They say the people who lead with confidence, display strong mental agility, and have the chemistry to drive teams toward positive results. These intangibles are what make the difference.”

Maximizing the intangibles of yourself and others comes from more clearly understanding where you are, where you want to be, and how to get there. Siegfried guides finance and accounting executives to answer these questions through leadership advisory, a proven process to clarify top priorities and enhance focus, organization, communication, execution, and innovation around key initiatives. Attendees at the Exponential Leadership session completed thoughtful exercises to get a taste of the difference leadership advisory offers to individuals, organizations, and all they interact with.

Asking questions to drive excellence

Siegfried partners with our clients to ask the hard questions and empower more thoughtful and purposeful decision making to help them effectively and efficiently prioritize all the variables at play and present the best possible work products.

“If you wrote down your top priorities and shared them with your boss and your colleagues, would they agree? What if you asked your boss how you could be a better leader? Simply taking the time to ask these questions will lead to increased alignment,” advised Leah.

Deeply considering these questions is a great starting point for any project, and in having these tough conversations, individuals can focus on incremental improvement for long-term, team-wide success. “Not knowing the answers to these questions is ok!” Leah highlighted. “It indicates how critical it is to take the time to find the answer that most resonates with you.”

The session also covered the importance of mindset and encouraged awareness of how your own mindset may fluctuate in the pursuit of success. Attendees were provided leadership advisory tools to put their thoughts down on paper and consider how to leverage the benefits in their own organizations. One participant remarked, “The best and most impactful change comes from being intentional with your time in the direction of clear goals.”
